Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

Packing Tips

Seal your box with plenty of strong packing tape.   These packages have a long journey ahead of them!

Cover your address and your soldier's address with clear tape to protect them from the elements.

If you should ship food and scented toiletries together, make sure that all scented items, and any item that might leak, be placed inside a good zip lock bag as no one wants soap flavored cookies!

Make sure each box is packed snug to prevent items from moving around.

Web Masters note:  My family makes it a point to securely tape all lids on bottles to prevent them from leaking.  Another helpful tip, we also use loose hard candy as a packing material vs. foam peanuts.  It keeps items from moving, they can eat it, and it fits in their pockets while they travel around.

What can I send overseas?

Please refer to these post office resources:

What do I use for city and state in the address?

You place the APO in the City slot, and the AO, AE ,or AP in the State slot.

If the order form asks for a phone number, enter (803) 787-9398.

How long will it take for my package to arrive?

1 to 2 weeks on average.   It depends on your trooper's location relative to the mail distribution center.

Webmaster Note 17 July 2008:  I have had some packages arrive in 4 days and others I was not sure they arrived until I receive a note from the trooper.

What paperwork do I need?

You will need a Customs Declaration, Form CP 2976.  This form may be obtained several ways.

Order Online.

Call Customer Service at (800)  527-1950  or  (800)  610-8734.

Pick up from your post office.

You can also fill out this form Online and print the completed version on your printer.

How do I fill out the Declaration form?

Provide a list of the package contents.

Place a value of approximately $25.00 to discourage theft.

Webmaster suggestion:  First of all, tape the lids of any liquids so they will not open in shipment.   I normally type in "Hygiene Items and snacks"  as this will cover just about everything.

Can I use the US Postal Service's "Click-N-Ship" service to print postage at home?

YES! The postal service recently added military address support to their "Click-N-Ship" service and you can schedule a pick up so the mailman comes directly to your door.  Very convenient!
