BOB SCALLAN ,AND HIS STUDENTS IN FLORIDA

WITH CARDS AND LETTERS TO THE MOTHER OF  CDR JOE MILLER IN THE NAVY

Bob Scallan of Naples, Florida is an educator by trade who started a small home shirt business in 2006.   After hearing about a local boat captain who offered free fishing trips to the troops, he too began to offer free shirts to the troops and their loved ones.     “My initial intent was to send a shirt to any soldier or loved one who contacted me, but it wasn’t long before platoon sergeants in Iraq and Afghanistan were contacting me and asking for 60 or so shirts for their guys.  I just couldn’t tell them no.  So I partnered with my local VFW and American Legion posts to fund shirt projects.”  To date, Bob has sent about 900 free shirts to the troops.
